CUSTOM USB FLASH MEMORY DESIGNS
Custom shapes have been available for years. The ship on the left is a perfect example. The mold typically runs about $200 to set up. Then if you want an "exclusive" where no one else can get your design then that also can be had for around $1,000 or less. If you have been in the usb flash memory business as long as JDP Digital then you know that most of the molds that are used have spread around the Asian basin. So my JDP 05 is somebody elses "XYZ" Thus sometimes I have to compete on price because everyone has that particular USB Flash Memory design.
The big advantage to the custom mold is again no one else is using it. The disadvantage is that most times they are not "stackable" (2 units in the USB ports sitting side by side) and sometimes with some USB Ports they don't fit all computer configurations (ex: maybe there is too much plastic on the laptop covering the USB port).
As you probably guessed once the $200 setup for the mold is done you do not have to pay that again. So if you have a customer that needs something specific try to get a custom USB Flash Memory design just for them!
